APESA’s method

For craftsmen and CEOs, the passing by Commercial Court means a brutal end to a careen, a dream of success and independence, but also culpability, dishonor, and loneliness.
APESA device enables them to find the psychological support to help them to overcome this entrepreneurial hardship.

Entrepreneurs committed in collective proceedings live this situation as a failure. Stress, despair, tears and suicidal words: legal professionals face situations that overcome their competence field, even though the opening those procedures should be appeasing.

APESA device enables a reporting of entrepreneurs suffering from psychological distress, so that the necessary help can be offered and granted to them.

Step 1
After attending many collective procedures hearings, a team of psychologists train mandatories, clerks, jurors and the President, during one day, to know which attitude to adopt in front of degraded words and psychological state of CEOs.

Once implemented, APESA device consists in offering to CEOs “endangered” to make contact with an adapted center and to be taken over.

Step 2
In attendance of a CEO who is in a critical psychological state, the professional who wants to trigger an alert may ask him the following question “Do you accept to be helped”?

According the answer to that question, an “alert document” is filled by the professional who trigger the alert, and by the CEO in suicidal risks or by his relatives. In fact, it happens for the craftsmen that the spouse is at the hearing and is also suffering a lot.

Step 3
Firstly, the “alert document” is sent to a coordinator in charge of carrying out a precise evaluation of the seriousness of the situation, within a 24 hours delay, calling by phone the concerned CEO.

Then, five free sessions with a psychologist are offered to the CEO to provide him support he needs. Professionals providing those sessions are those who already take part of the program: they can be psychologists, marriage counselors, family therapist, addictologists…
Those are the persons who call the one who suffers and establish a contact.

Thus, APESA device not only is a new practice for concerned jurists as they are not helpless anymore when they face acute illness of the litigant. It is also a psychologists’ device as they accept to deal with the worrying situation that has been reported.

Mental illness of the litigant is not taboo anymore. In the convenings or documents addressed by the jurisdiction, a phrase at the bottom of the page advises them a help can be provided if necessary.
